Built for UK businesses on Xero, QuickBooks and Sage

Your CFO, without the salary

Someone should be telling you in January that cash gets tight in March. That is a CFO's job. CFO Pal does it from your Xero, QuickBooks or Sage data: a written financial summary every Monday, a warning the same day something moves, a clear yes when you can afford something, and an answer whenever you want one.

Your CFO's take

Cash is healthy at £31,800, which is around 8 weeks of cover at your current run rate. Riverside Events owes you £4,200, now 29 days overdue. Chasing that today would meaningfully improve your position. Marketing spend jumped 47% this month; worth reviewing whether the ROI justifies continuing at this level.

Urgent items don't wait for Monday. Cash dropping below your threshold, an invoice going overdue or a spending spike triggers an alert the same day, by email, SMS or WhatsApp.

What your accounting software will not do

Nothing in Xero, QuickBooks or Sage tells you in January that cash will be tight in March.

Your accounting software answers whatever you ask it. It just never starts the conversation.

The AI assistants now arriving in Xero, QuickBooks and Sage answer a good question quickly, and they are genuinely useful. Raising the question first is a different job, and it is the one a finance director does, whether the answer is a warning or a green light. The usual fix is a part-time one, at £1,000 a day. So most owners never hire one.

One view, whichever platform

Xero, QuickBooks and Sage, treated the same

An assistant built into one accounting platform can only ever see that platform. CFO Pal sits above the books instead, so if you run one company on Xero and another on Sage, both land in the same Monday brief and the same forecast. Add a business at any time and it joins the same view.

We only ever read, in every case. We never write to your books. Accountants with a mixed client base get one programme covering all of it.

Forward, not backward

Know what's coming, not just what happened

Sixteen weeks of projected cash, built from your invoices, bills and payment patterns. The week you're forecast to go short is marked before you get there, which is the only point at which you can still do something about it.

Budget vs actuals

Catch overspend in week two, not at year end

Set a monthly budget per category once. Actuals land against it automatically as your accounting data syncs, with a red flag the day a category runs hot and drill-down to the transactions driving it.

  • Pace tracking, so you can tell real overspend from simply being further through the year
  • Variance drill-down to individual transactions
  • Budget breach alerts sent the day they happen

Frequently asked questions

What happens after the 14-day trial?

If you continue, your subscription starts at £199/month + VAT. If you don't, the account simply deactivates. There's no charge, and no card on file to charge. Your data is kept for 30 days in case you change your mind.

Do I need to enter card details to start?

No. You get full access for 14 days without entering any payment details, and we'll remind you before it ends.

Does this replace my accountant?

No, and it isn't meant to. Your accountant files your accounts and handles tax. CFO Pal covers the gap in between: the week-to-week question of whether the business is actually alright. It sits alongside your accountant rather than replacing them, and we don't give tax advice.

My accounting software has its own AI assistant. Why pay for this?

Use it. If you're on Xero, JAX is included in your subscription during the beta and it's good at what it does. The difference is who starts the conversation: an assistant inside your books waits for you to open them and ask, whereas CFO Pal sends a brief every Monday and an alert the day something moves, across Xero, QuickBooks and Sage alike. If you're Xero-only and happy to go and ask, you may not need us.

Read the Xero JAX comparison
Which accounting software do you work with?

Xero, QuickBooks Online and Sage Accounting, syncing twice a day. If you don't use any of them you can enter figures manually or upload a CSV.

Does the AI ever get the numbers wrong?

It can't calculate them. Every figure the AI quotes is computed by CFO Pal from your data first and handed to the model as fact. The AI writes the explanation, never the arithmetic. That's a deliberate design constraint, not a claim about the model.

Is my financial data safe?

Data is stored in the UK (London), encrypted in transit and at rest, and isolated per business with row-level security. We only ever read from your accounting platform and can revoke it ourselves the moment you ask. Full detail is on our security page.
